Installing/Removing

Note: If you install KML Editor before Google Earth, you will have to restart your
computer before you can use KML Editor.

Note: Depending on the KML Editor version you are installing, you may be asked to first remove the previous version if one was previously installed on your computer. This will only occur if the previously installed version cannot be removed automatically by the installer. See below for the steps to uninstall KML Editor if required.

Warning: Do not download or install a version of KML Editor from any other source. KML Editor software has not been code signed therefore its authenticity cannot be verified when installed from other sources.

Installing KML Editor

To install the program, use the installer found at http://www.northgates.ca/kmleditor/download/ .

From the link above, click on the KML Editor download link you wish to install.
On the file download security warning, click Run to start the installation immediately or click Save to save the installation package on your computer if you wish to install it at a later time.
Note: If you chose Save, when asked for the save location, choose your desktop as it will be easier to find the installation package when you are ready to install it.
When the installation is complete, you can delete the installation package if you chose to save it on your computer in step 2 above.
A shortcut to launch KML Editor will appear on your desktop and in your Programs Files as NorthGates' KML Editor.

Updating KML Editor

You can check for updates from KML Editor menu Help » Check for Updates...

Uninstalling KML Editor

To uninstall KML Editor software, you should use its uninstall program files.

Choose Settings » Control Panel from the Start menu.
Open the Add/Remove Programs control panel. You’ll see the Install/Uninstall window with a list of programs that you can remove.
Select KML Editor and click add/Remove (or Change/Remove depending on the version of Windows).
Follow the instructions on screen to remove KML Editor from your hard drive.

Note: Only KML Editor original files will be removed by the installer. Any configuration files such as Email templates and FTP profiles you created in KML Editor will not be removed.
