Although KML Editor has improved considerably, it
is important to understand its current limitations. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Warning: Be sure to
make backups of your KML files before opening in KML Editor Preview Release.
This release has not been
thoroughly tested and requires feedback from users like you to
successfully find and
resolve issues. Note: Use KMZ files when you plan to share your Place
with others as it will include all dependant files in a single file (KMZ). You
can still share your KML file but all dependant files must be accessible by the
recipients. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
KML Editor communicates tightly with Google Earth software therefore some undesired behaviours may occur. The most common issue can be resolved easily by turning off some of KML Editor navigation features such as Show/hide description balloon and Single click preview. Another issue is the change of focus between KML Editor and Google Earth. Some actions will force the focus to go to Google Earth's Earth Viewer and in such cases, you may find yourself clicking twice on a KML Editor menu item or toolbar button to activate it.
KML Editor sucessfully accesses Google Earth's version 4.2 Feature Properties Dialog to help you move your Features on the Earth Viewer. This feature is not guarantied to work in future releases of Google Earth as we were unable to confirm its future availability. You can always use the Crosshair and Capture Camera to target your feature's location but you may not be able to properly edit geometry features from within KML Editor. We will monitor this availability closely to see if it holds in future Google Earth upgrades.
Because KML (wiki)
files may depend on external files
such as images, models etc that are located on various medias, some
Save, Save As,
Email or Publish may not properly
locate all dependancies.
Kml Editor does not currently support:
file type
but supports the LookAt only
KML Editor or Google Earth may crash from time-to-time depending on the complexity of your KML file or other factor.
KML Editor hides Google Earth when it is docked. If KML Editor crashes while Google Earth is hidden, you can unhide Google Earth from KML Editor's Monitor located in your system tray. You can also restart KML Editor then say 'Yes' when asked to unhide Google Earth.
